My wife and I are currently in the process of reimagining our backyard oasis here in McKenzie Lake—something more elevated, more modern, and definitely worthy of a proper gin and tonic at sunset. With travel to the U.S. (and our beloved Hawaii) now less frequent, we decided to bring a bit of the tropics home.

Part of this transformation included upgrading our outdoor patio furniture and adding a sleek gazebo as the focal point of our new deck design. Enter London Drugs—yes, London Drugs—not typically the first place you’d expect to find inspiration for outdoor living, but what a surprise.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was exceptional. We were warmly welcomed and guided through a surprisingly curated selection of outdoor furniture and structures. The associate helping us—whose name I sadly missed—was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping us
bring our vision to life. She helped us match styles and materials that aligned beautifully with the clean, modern lines of our home, and even shared thoughtful tips for durability in Calgary’s unpredictable climate (namely wind and hail).

The gazebo and patio furniture we chose are not only stylish but
impressively solid—something I greatly value as a detail-oriented account executive with high standards and little patience for flimsy design. The pricing, too, was outstanding—especially when compared to similar pieces elsewhere. A few items were out of stock, but the team quickly ordered them in from another location, keeping the process smooth and stress-free.

London Drugs might not be the first place you think of for backyard upgrades—but it should be. For those looking to elevate their outdoor space with excellent service, quality, and surprising style—this is a hidden gem I’d absolutely recommend.

This is a great place to get your prescription, develop your film, get insurance or buy a TV. They have a great supply of perfumes, make up, small appliances, snack foods, shampoos, books, magazines etc. The customer service is friendly and helpful.

Edit:
Sold me expired drink.

Problem resolved. Not only did they refund me for both expired bottles, they also explained how they have added steps to avoid this again in case the vendor made a mistake. They have put in procedure to go thru their drink coolers regularly to make sure this doesn't happen again. Both the manager and ast manager were super apologetic and assured me it wouldn't happen again. Thank you Ron and Ryan!

Incredibly disappointed by the treatment I received from the pharmacist. I called to inquire into a medication that a nurse had mentioned to me. The pharmacist explained the drug to me in minimal detail, and wouldn’t answer my question when I inquired further and advised I was simply seeking to understand more. I explained the context of why I was inquiring about the medication simply conversationally, and he became quite forceful that he wouldn’t prescribe a medication based on the recommendation of someone else (which I thoroughly understand- but he could have been far more polite). I fully appreciate and respect that pharmacists cannot provide prescriptions based on anyone else’s recommendations, but I expected respect, and at least a willingness to answer my questions- neither of which I received. Instead, I left feeling quite judged, criticized and spoken down to. This is the last time I will ever contact this pharmacy for advice or direction.

had an extremely uncomfortable experience at this London Drugs location tonight! I brought my own reusable bag, as most people do nowadays and was immediately made to feel like a suspect. A employee loudly whistled to signal to another staff member about me, implying I might be stealing. After, the one stood in the next aisle pretending to browse while clearly watching me and following my every move. Being followed around the store like this was unprofessional and unacceptable. If there was a genuine concern, a respectful approach would have been far more appropriate. This experience has left a very negative impression, and I will think twice before shopping here again!!
